On Sunday December 9th 2019, performer Lizzo twerked at the Lakers game and showed everyone her goodies. So many people have gone out of their way to share how appalled they are that she did such a thing. But I feel as if even though this was obnoxious to say the least, its really not that big of a deal. Okay so you saw Lizzo’s butt, did you die? Of course you did not die from seeing someone’s butt. I applaud Lizzo for being so comfortable with her body that it makes people uncomfortable. To see a plus size Black woman unapologetically take up space in such a manner is inspiring. Fat phobia is constitutional everywhere you go they’re talking about losing weight. The seats on airplanes, the dining booths in restaurants, the toilet seats in public restrooms are a certain size for a reason. We live in a world that body shames and condemns body types. Yet in world where everyone is telling Lizzo she must change, she loves herself harder.
